in proximity to brings together visuals that makeup two parts of my practice that are in constant dialogue - gestures made or acted out within workshop settings that then inform project imagery. This work is made as a way to build an intuitive register based on methods akin to 'feeling through; and proximity, using referential material I find on my desk, on my phone, or otherwise visible to me. The images and objects sit within a frame where the material can be moved, changed, or replaced.
Visuals are pulled from projects on stone masonry, crop circles, from workshops on thatching and tent building, and Women Spirit, a lesbian quarterly magazine from the 1970's.
