A Rumour Reached the Village is a collective inquiry that began with a role-playing game set in an imagined community riven with accusations of witchcraft. Over three months, six artists exchanged challenges and responses, out of which common themes emerged: loops and circles, colonies and growth, architecture and storytelling. The culminating installation is a settlement of images, objects, moving image and living cultures, questioning the stories and materials on which communities are built.
This publication below was created as footnotes for the exhibition and printed and bound by one of our members Rowan Lear at the CCA in Glasgow.
The spreads show the visual responses to challenges the group exchanged with each other, alongside research around communities, responding visually to keywords underpinned within that such as labour, structure, order, chance, etc…
